The My Portal section of the Mindstorms NXT IDE has been updated. It looks like we’ll be getting a few new projects to try out. Hopefully, a new firmware update is included.

The Eagle Has Landed
Friday, June 30th, 2006
It’s tough working away from home knowing something you’ve waited months for is sitting in a box in the living room. Thank God it was Thursday! My work week was officially over and I could fly home and meet my new LEGO Mindstorms NXT. And boy, what a first impression! They weren’t lying! Even a complete novice like me was able to construct a robot in less than 30 minutes. Okay, but I was too chicken to upgrade the firmware!

The bricked brick that keeps clickin’!
Thursday, June 29th, 2006What is it with the click of death these days? You may remember the Iomega click of death fiasco, or more recently, tossing iPods off third floor balconies after clicking drove some folks insane. Well, our new, beloved NXT is reported to be suffering from its own click syndrome.
The NXT brick is said to come with firmware version 1.01 out of the box (I can confirm tonight). The included CD contains version 1.03. When users have attempted to download the newer firmware version to their NXT bricks, some have experienced failure and an endless clicking noise. Now from what I read, the clicking is normal during the download process, but the problem is that it doesn’t stop. Users are then left with a bricked brick.
Some attribute it to USB or Bluetooth issues. Some even claim to have unbricked their NXTs. It looks like a sporadic issue and LEGO is said to be aware of it. Not sure if I have the guts to upgrade before the issue is officially resolved… Will keep you posted.

Velkommen!
Wednesday, June 28th, 2006Hopefully, my Danish welcome to you all was accurate! The goal of this new site is to allow LEGO Mindstorms NXT users from all over the world get together and share tips, tricks, and creations. The forums will definitely be the focal point, but I also want to try to keep the audience informed of any LEGO news I come across. I am new to the world of LEGO, so I hope to share my personal story, as well. Enjoy!
